Before I go lie down with ‘salem’s Lot and some dogs
One of my current projects is teaching myself drafting. I’m going through the drafting exercises in the Costumer’s Handbook (which is what Melissa works from when she teaches her pattern-drafting class) and have drafted …three?…corsets this summer.
I mean, corset drafting is pretty simple, compared to something like a suit jacket. Obviously I still have room for improvement (lol what are overbusts? we just don’t know).
ANYWAY my other big personal project is a corset combining the hourglass figure of a Victorian corset with the flat front of a 17th/18th century corset. Which as someone pointed out earlier today, is sort of me combining my love of corsets and binders. ANYWAY I really like this idea but I don’t have any material to use for the mock-up which makes me very sad. The pattern is literally on my drafting table right now. It’s just waiting for mock-ups and refinements.
I’m taking pictures of every step of basically all these projects so I have options for things to put in my portfolio, so this will probably be Summer Drafting Blog for a while.
